Lunch Lift? Thread lifting? Questions for PD Dr Mathias Tremp

As an outpatient treatment, thread lifting is also called "lunch lifting". The treatment usually lasts no longer than a lunch break, hence the name. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic and immediately tightens the skin. After the procedure, most patients can go about their daily lives afterwards.

What is a thread lift?

Thread lifting is a non-surgical procedure with a short recovery time. In this procedure, degradable threads are inserted into the skin under local anaesthesia. This creates a connection with the subcutaneous tissue and leads to a pull in the desired direction.

Further placement of additional threads is possible at any time. The threads can be used in combination with hyaluronic acid and gives the skin a certain freshness and volume. In addition, the procedure can be combined with an autologous blood treatment.

What are the advantages of a thread lift?

The thread lift is a low impact procedure compared to a traditional surgical face lift. The scars are barely visible and the pain or risk of inflammation is minimal. The healing phase is short.

Where can thread lifting be applied?

Depending on the region and after consultation with the doctor, different types of threads and treatment techniques can be used. Ideally, thread lifting is suitable for the cheek and neck area, but can also be used for the eyebrows or forehead area, for example.

Who is suitable for a thread lift?

The procedure is ideal for patients with some sagging skin in the cheek and neck area and who do not want a surgical face lift. It is also suitable for patients who want to look fresh and younger immediately with little downtime.

What are the risks of a thread lift?

The risks are minimal, very rarely infections or bleeding can occur. Occasionally the suture material can work its way out or is disturbing under the skin. The stitches can easily be removed under local anaesthesia. The risk of nerve injury is very low as the treatment is performed in a very superficial layer.

What do I have to pay attention to after the treatment?

After the treatment, you should refrain from sports activities for about 2 weeks. Bromelain/Arnica globules and cooling can help reduce swelling. You should also use a sunscreen SPF 50 for the coming weeks after the treatment.

How long does the result take?

The result is visible immediately and lasts approx. 12 - 24 months. Additional sutures can be inserted at any time. After the acute swelling phase, the skin tightens further through the formation of new collagen. However, the result is not comparable to a surgical face lift, where the tightening effect is greater and the result is long-lasting.

What are the costs?

The cost of treatment is agreed in advance and varies according to region and severity.
